And I never knew we would meet the people behind this product. Yee Ling is 26 years old. With her tertiary education being IT, she never thought she’d be working at the backend of the telco industry.
She draws her enthusiasm and drive everyday from the projects she handles. According to her, a single project on the average allows her to meet people from 15 different countries! Yes, a single project! Meeting new people all the time is totally part of the job.
There was an occasion where she was required to spend a minimum of 20 days in a particular country. She says besides having the privilege to see the different corners of the world, she enjoys meeting the people of diverse cultures as well. They are a great resource to learn from.
Asked about the one thing all these have taught her, she says, “Learning to stand on my own two feet. Being able to find my way around and getting to work with people of
different background has made me more resourceful as a team player.” She then tells us, “the biggest bonus I get from work at times, is the chance to experience the different change in environment.”
different background has made me more resourceful as a team player.” She then tells us, “the biggest bonus I get from work at times, is the chance to experience the different change in environment.”Despite the travel benefits Yee Ling enjoys, her job is no bed of roses. The nature of her job is about handling customers’ requirements. The tougher part of things will surface when the requirement does not seem to fit the client’s expectations. So she is constantly on her feet trying her best to meet her customers requirements.
Asked about what makes her love her job and why she’s successful with it, she says, “it’s about giving your 100% dedication. I find a way to love my job. It’s not an easy job, but it pays off when I put my 100% effort. It is very satisfying to see the results.”
