Conversations with the Moon 2

I was sitting alone looking at the dark sky,
when the Moon appeared from behind the clouds.
I hadn’t thought I’d see her tonight so I was delighted.
I smiled at her
and she came closer.
She whispered,  ‘ why do I always see you alone? ‘
I was touched by her question, as I didn’t think she had noticed.
I said to her;
‘No one quite knows me as well as aloneness, Moon, and I don’t suspect anyone shall. I found a freedom which I have never experienced in the company of another like I have when I am alone. I don’t have to make up any excuses for how and who I am. Often, I sit in silence thinking about nothing and sometimes about everything. No one questions me, because I am alone. I may sound selfish but what harm am I doing to another? I would never be able to have these conversations with you Moon, if I wasn’t alone. People would just assume that I’ve gone mad. So you see Moon, in this solitude, there is an abundance of gifts that I have come to know through simply being able to be who I am. These are the gifts from aloneness.’
